Gran Fierro Restaurant by Formafatal

An Argentinian folklore and tradition elements served in contemporary and modern manner at the heart of Europe – Prague? A real fusion, not only culinary, but also architectural and in the aspect of atmosphere and design ideology.  Dark wood combined with dark gray concrete, Edison bulbs hanging on beautifully wrought iron, cattle decorative elements juxtaposed to clear glass partitions and modern shapes – that, in a nutshell, is the new restaurant creation of architects Dagmar Stepanova and Katarina Varsova from the studio Formafatal.

The ephemeral wicker lamps are the fresh artistic touch that balances perfectly with the long massive wooden table and the lighter bar premises. Juxtaposed to the metal lattice and the clear glass space dividers those more rural attributes (the wicker textures, the cattle decorations and the upholstery made of real Argentinean belts) add interesting folk details to the clear lined and contemporary layout. This combination of industrial and retro features with a touch of South America creates a space with distinctive character and inviting atmosphere.  Photographs: Martin Tůma/ BoysPlayNice, Jakub Skokan/ BoysPlayNice
